Certain women celebrated International Women’s Day by receiving an emotional tribute from the mayor of Marbella.
The honoured guests were a group of washer women who congregated in the Jose Aguera Plaza to receive plaques acknowledging their service to the city.
The honours were carried out by Marbella mayor Angeles Muñoz who said, “We wanted International Women’s Day to not only be a day for defending better salaries and work opportunities, but also to rightly honour and recognise the women who have done so much for their families and for this city.”
The tribute finished with individual plaques being given to the women being recognised followed by the unveiling of a new commemorative plaque.
