A SWISS man living in Torrevieja who was facing a sentence of up to 14 years for domestic violence, threats and the attempted murder of his partner has been given only 18 months imprisonment due to his size.

His defence argued that he did not intend to kill her by throwing her out of the window, but that during a heated discussion he lifted his petite partner off the ground and due to his size compared to the height of the window he had unintentionally thrown her against the glass.

The sentence was passed for domestic violence, but he was found not guilty of attempted murder.

The couple had been living together for six months and neighbours have said there were frequent arguments. On the night in question his partner apparently came home late and drunk with a friend, causing him to lose his temper and start a fight with her.

The friend saw him push her against the wall and bang her against the window; she jumped in to intervene and managed to drag the victim, who suffered from cranial damage and other injuries, out to safety.
