War dead remembered in moving services

REMEMBRANCE : Torrevieja's Mayor lays the first wreath.

SERVICE and sacrifice. Remembrance Day has been marked across the region.

Silence fell on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month in Torrevieja at the La Siesta church as Reverend Scargill conducted the Remembrance Service. Mayor Eduardo Dolon and other councillors was welcomed by The Royal British Legion Torrevieja branch President Ted Marsh and introduced to the standard bearers.

The first first hymn and prayers were followed by the act of remembrance before The Last Post rang ou.

A respectful silence was honoured, giving the guests a chance to reflect on those loved and lost during war and conflict past and present, before wreaths were laid in the memorial garden.

Paul Rodwell, the British Consul in Alicante, laid a wreath in the Garden of Remembrance at the Capilla de las Mil Palmeras at a service held in the diocese of Pilar de la Horadada. In the village church in Hondón de los Frailes the international congregation paid their respects and laid poppy crosses.
