Rafael Nadal advanced to the semifinals of the Master Cup with a close win over Stanislas Wawrinka for 7-6 (5) / 7-6 (6).
With the result, the Spaniard secures the No.1 spot until the end of the season. It will be his third time finishing at the top of the ranking, having done so before in 2008 and 2010.
