A MAN who allegedly shot a Podenco dog to death in Motril will be brought to trial.
A Motril court has decided the incident can be considered an offence against domestic animals in relation to the Spanish Criminal Code.
The man faces up to one year in jail and could be banned from working with animals for up to three years.
The accused reportedly shot the Podenco dog with a shotgun when he was working on a farm in the Las Zorreras area of Motril.
The animal was taken to a vet but died shortly afterwards.
