PLANS have been approved to build a new railway station next to the new Mandarache shopping centre in Cartagena.
Mayor Pilar Barreiro confirmed the news saying a financing agreement had been reached. All rail traffic to Cartagena will be directed to the new station as soon as the high speed AVE service reaches the city. That, the mayor hoped, would be in 2016, although the full speed service on the line between Murcia and Cartagena is not expected until 2018.
