LAS VEGAS, Sept. 15 (UPI) — Boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. topped opponent Saul Alvarez with a majority decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, maintaining his undefeated record.
At the Saturday night match, Mayweather won the first two scorecards with 117-111 and 116-112, while a third card saw him tied with Alvarez at 114-114.
The win put Mayweather’s record at 45-0 and dropped Alvarez’s to 42-1-1.
Before the Mayweather-Alvarez fight, Carlos Molina won a twelve round fight against junior middleweight champion Ishe Smith. Scores in that fight were 117-111, 116-112 Molina, 116-112 Smith.
