Stag-do Briton in fall death tragedy

TRAGEDY NEARBY: Benidorm’s Rincon de Loix area.

ALAN CLARE, a 35-year-old Briton on a stag weekend, fell to his death in Benidorm.

His body was found on a first-floor terrace of his hotel in the Rincon de Loix in the early hours of the morning.

Piecing together events it appears that the amateur rugby player, who played for a Warrington team, returned alone to the hotel after a night out as others in the party had gone back earlier.

Clare took the lift to his room on the 13th floor but appears to have stopped at the sixth floor, said sources close to the case. He tried unsuccessfully to enter a room that he thought was his and fell while attempting to climb through an open window to what he assumed was his balcony.

Emergency services were called after a passerby saw “something” fall and heard an impact.  Medics found Clare’s lifeless body on a first floor balcony above the kitchen area.

Police interviewed the other members of the stag-do and found no evidence of foul play.

“Everything points to an accident after excess alcohol,” police sources said.
