WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama will observe the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington with a moment of silence and a visit to the Pentagon Memorial.
Obama on Wednesday will join first lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and staffers in a moment of silence on the White House South Lawn.
The president will then attend an observance at the Pentagon.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks that led to a long war in Afghanistan.
