THE future of Corvera airport is expected to be decided this week.
The Murcia regional government is in talks with airport operator Aena and the Ministry of Defence who have given approval to overturning the prior management contract with Aeromur and a consortium led by Sacyr.
This would allow a new contract to be created and proceed with the opening of the airport.
Sacyr is a 60 per cent shareholder in the Aeromar concessionary and is a large employer in the region.
Work on the airport has stalled after the concessionary wanted to change the terms of the contract saying it would not open Corvera without new financial conditions.
No members of the regional government are opposing the rescinding of the contract.
