ALFARNATEJO, in the Axarquia area of Malaga province, was hit by storms which left the streets flooded with 61 litres of rain per m2 yesterday (Thursday).
The province was on alert for heavy rains since Wednesday, and as predicted, the skies opened up and dropped 36 litres per m2 of water in Antequera city centre in just 30 minutes. Streets, shops and houses were flooded.
Meanwhile, in Ronda, large hail stones fell, and in Colmenar, in the Axarquia area, 16 litres fell per m2.
In Almuñecar, on the coast of Granada, floods and hail were also reported, and crops were damaged. Two families were evacuated from their homes.
The alert for heavy rains was lifted today in Malaga province and the weekend is expected to be fine, with just a few clouds, according to the State Meteorology Agency.
