Police swoop on British ‘drugs gang’ in Alicante

POLICE have swooped on a group of Britons and seized more than 300 kilos of hashish.

The alleged organisation based in Alicante, whose members allegedly acquired cocaine, cannabis and amphetamines in Spain and the Netherlands for distribution in the UK, has been disbanded.

The joint operation between National Police, in collaboration with members of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) UK, has resulted in the arrest of a total of 13 people.

It comes following the investigation into a group of British citizens, allegedly engaged in the acquisition of different drugs which were prepared, packaged and transported for distribution in the UK.

The operation led police to intercept the hashish in Elche which is believed to have been headed for Manchester airport. Arrests were also made in Orihuela and Dolores and a property in Jacarilla was found to have nine unidentified substances, 60g of marijuana, €4,000 in cash, eight mobile phones and an English registered vehicle, with two different license plates in the boot.
