Majorcar Pueblo
TWO towns in Almeria province are celebrating after being named amongst the prettiest in Spain.
Mojacar Pueblo and Lucainena have been incorporated into the Association of ‘Los pueblos mas bonitos de España’ or the prettiest towns in Spain. They join this select club which includes some of the most beautiful towns around Spain.
Although both very different, with the white town of Mojacar Pueblo rising above the coastline and offering views out to sea and across to the Sierra Cabrera, they are both very much a tourist attraction.
Just a few miles away, the town of Lucainena de las Torres is relying heavily on its heritage and past with the restoration of its historic calcination furnaces and the value placed on its famous Green Route.
The town now proudly displays the signs on the entrances to the town that accredit it as one of the prettiest in Spain.
Proud mayor Juan Herrera puts it down to the heritage, the cleanliness of the streets, the plants on the facades of the houses that give it colour, and the traffic free streets.
The Mayor of Mojacar, Rosa Maria Cano is equally proud, commenting that everything that promotes the area is welcome.
