Mo Farah Fails To Qualify For Tokyo Olympics. image: twitter
Mo Farah can be proud that he has qualified for the men’s 5,000m final at the Athletics Championships in Moscow with what looks to be little strain.
Farah need to be in the top five to qualify and was running in two semi-finals. He did what he needed to do, coming to the last 200m; he eased down finishing in fifth place in 13:23:93.
Coming in first place for Ethiopia was Muktar Edris and he showed off his 100m sprint coming in 3.11 minutes ahead of Farah but maybe he should have saved his energy like Mo as the final lies ahead. Farah stated: “That was all right, I just wanted to do as less work as possible to be fresh in the legs and ready for the final and I did that.”
Farah obviously wanted to pace himself as he had just come from winning gold in the 10,000m. He made sure he was near the front at all times and then tried establishing a break away from the pack of six with just over two and a half laps to go.
