Luis Suarez wants to leave Liverpool after giving his all

Luis Suarez has asked to leave the club

Luis Suarez has allegedly pleaded with Liverpool to let him leave the club for a competing Champions league side.

The 26-year-old striker has told two English papers that the Anfield side had told him that if they did not qualify for the Champions League, they would let him leave in the summer. Therefore he intends to submit a transfer request by the end of the week if a move is blocked.

He supposedly claimed to have given everything last season to the team and that he now wants Liverpool to honour their side of the agreement. He continued to say that he had an opportunity to move to a ‘big’ European club last season but stayed on the understanding that if they failed this year he would be allowed to go.

London side, Arsenal have already made two unsuccessful bids on the Liverpool striker for a little more than €46 million to trigger a release clause. Liverpool rejected the offers, insisting the clause does not force them to sell.

Suarez has supposedly picked up a foot injury and has not travelled to Norway for the pre-season match but has stated that: “I am 26, I need to be playing in the Champions League. I feel I have done enough to be playing in the Champions League at this stage of my career. Now there is an option for me to do that and I want very much to take it.”

He claims to not feel betrayed by the club, just that he was promised something a year ago and now that he has given everything he can, he wants to move on.

He is due to have a scan on his foot and will be staying in England to receive his treatment. Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool coach has insisted that Arsenal’s offer has been rejected purely because it is not up to what Liverpool value him at. He has said that if Arsenal wants a player, they have to produce the value of him.

Suarez joined the Reds in January 2011 from Ajax for €26.2 million and had signed a long-term contract extension until August 2012. He scored 30 goals in 44 appearances for Liverpool last season alone.
