Ideal conditions as summer break starts in Nerja

THE conditions at Los Moriscos were ideal, warm sunny and with hardly a breath of wind for Golf International Nerja (GINS).

The popular number of the day appeared to be 35, with four players returning that score.

Pat Gray was sole winner of the twos pot.

Overall winner of the stableford competition was Raymond Cooper (35 points).

Roger Willoughby (35) won the men’s category with David Oxford (35) second.

Ladies’ winner was Elaine Griffiths (35) with Marlene Taylor (31) runner-u. The society is now in its summer break and will re-start competitions in September.

At Añoreta 20 players played a Texas Scramble.  It was a close competition with only two-and-a-half shoits separating first and last teams.

Clubhouse discussions quickly turned to lip outs, chips that just missed the green and only ifs.

As it was two teams tied for first place and had to go to count back.

In first place was the team of Dan McAllister, John Conlan, Graham Moulton and Kate Mason.

Second placed were Malcolm Jones, Frank Ferdinales,  Mayliz Santon, and Lilo Bliem

A select group of 24 graced the fairways at Baviera.

Once again Jackie Viles’ consistency paid off not only being half of the winning pair but also scooping the twos pot yet again.

There was also one other two, this one by Mike Flint, who sank his second shot on the first hole.

Winning team was Jackie Viles and Clive Akid (42) with Gill Sibson and Derek Sibson second ( 38).

Ken McKee and George Reid (37) were third.
