Around 100 immigrants entered Spain at Melilla early this morning according to police sources. 300 sub-saharans rushed the border fence in the northern zone of Mariguari and Rostrogordo, most were detained by Moroccan police and Guardia Civil, but it is thought that 100 managed to slip through into the North African enclave.
A police helicopter is searching for the rest. It is not known if there were any injuries. For months now, security forces have stepped up vigilance at the frontier as immigrant pressure continues to enter into Spain.
