Briton detained in Morocco for the attempted abduction of a minor in Velez-Malaga

Detained Robert Edward Bill

SPANISH Police have identified and detained a British man accused of the attempted abduction of a 12 year old girl last November in Velez-Malaga.

Robert Edward Bill, 58, is an ex-teacher and is considered to be a dangerous sex offender in the UK, where he has been charged with several sexual offences.

He fled to Morocco at the end of 2012 and was the subject of an international search and arrest order since the incident in the Axarquia.

The National Police have informed Spanish press that Bill was detained in the northern Moroccan city of Tetuan when he was surprised by residents as he attempted to abduct a six year old girl. The shouts and screams of the child alerted the public who chased the accused and caught him before handing him over to the local police. He is also believed to be responsible for two rapes of young Moroccan girls in Tetuan and Chefchaouen according to EFE News agency.
