Wanted man tracked down in Madrid

NATIONAL POLICE working with OCN-Interpol have detained a man in Madrid wanted by the British authorities.

The man was wanted for committing an alleged sexual assault on his partner in her London home in 2010.

The Portuguese man had travelled from Madrid in August 2010 to visit the woman who was his partner at the time.

After smoking crack, he allegedly seized a knife and threatened to kill her. A month passed and after he showed more signs of violent behavior, the woman finally reported him to police and made a complaint of rape and violent assault by the man.

During questioning, she explained that they had both smoked ‘crack’ and when they arrived back at the house he got a knife and threatened to kill her. Later, she said he punched her in the head, tried to strangle her on the bed and then sexually assaulted her.

Once this information had reached Spanish authorities, police tracked him down to Madrid where he was arrested.
