Spanish car sales rose in April 2013

CARS sales rose in Spain by almost 11 per cent last month, following seven months running of falling figures. Almost 62,320 new cars were sold, which is 10.8 per cent more than the previous month, according to the manufacturers, sellers and dealers associations.

They say this is thanks to the fact that there were two more working days this April than in the same month last year, and the government’s Plan PIVE 2 scheme which offers aids to purchase new cars.

So far this year, 243,042 vehicles have been sold in Spain, which is 6.7 per cent fewer than over the same period in 2012.

Most of the vehicles sold in April were purchased by private citizens, amounting to 30,644, which is 25.9 per cent more than last month, while rental companies also increased purchases by 35.6 per cent to 15,159. Meanwhile, the number of company cars fell by 20.4 per cent to 16,514.
