TOGS Match against Martes Golf Society at Antequera

A 16 strong team played the return match against Martes at Antequera last week for the TOGS/Martes ‘San Miguel Trophy’.  Following TOGS 7/1 victory on their home course of Baviera, in September 2012 they were optimistic of a win this time.

The Martes Captain and all Martes members made the TOGS very welcome. The weather was fantastic, best day of the year so far, so the results were as follows:

Tony Child & Bob Willett  won  5 & 3

Dave Miles & Roy Smith halved their game

Charles Wheeler & Andrew Brooks lost by 1 hole

Godfrey Camilleri & Ken Gallichan  lost 6 & 4

Bill O’Neil and George Clay won 5 & 3

Ruth Dromey & Martina Parker won 2 & 1

Noel Archbold & John Vincent lost by 1 hole

David DeVoto & John Parker lost by 1 hole

The final result was a 4.5 to 3.5 victory to Martes, so as you can see from the results, TOGS lost by 1 point, but with 3 of the games losing out on the last hole a victory or a halved match would have  meant TOGS retain the Trophy, but was snatched from our hands…..well done to all, we had a fantastic day.

TOGS home match against Martes will be on Sunday 22 September at Baviera.
