Fernando Alonso finished eighth for Spain in Bahrain F1

Bahrain Formula One

Spain’s Fernando Alonso finished in eighth in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Problems with the Spaniard’s wing panel forced him into the pit twice for repairs.

Sebastian Vettel took his second win for Red Bull in four races this year aand he dominated the race.

The world champion headed Lotus drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean, who denied Paul di Resta a first career podium in the closing laps.

The Scot had, like Raikkonen, done one fewer pit stops than the other leading runners but could not hold Grosjean.

Lewis Hamilton took fifth for Mercedes.
