FARMING COMMUNITIES: Millions of euros are being invested to halt an exodus of youngsters from rural neighborhoods.
CENTRAL government is investing millions in Almeria province to halt an exodus of youngsters from rural communities. In order to prevent the gradual exodus from rural farming communities, the central government intends to maintain investments in the 89 municipalities which make up the interior of the province.
In specific terms the Programme to Promote Agricultural Employment, (PFEA headed by Andres Garcia Lorca, will invest €11.8 million which it is estimated will create 5,000 jobs.
So as to distribute the funds evenly amongst the municipalities PFEA monitors will take into account the criteria and job demand amongst the different municipalities in order to provide income supplement at the right level and therefore prevent the local population moving to gain higher wages.
