NERJA is becoming a popular setting for film and TV makers. Maro beach was the latest location used, this time for a new Timotei shampoo commercial. A total of 15 people were involved in the production, with five marquees set up for the equipment, catering and other requirements of the team.

Nerja’s councillor for Tourism, Bernardo Pozuelo emphasised the importance of these types of productions for the town, which bring publicity at no cost to the council.

Last year 12 different film and TV productions came to Nerja. One was a Bollywood film company which shot various scenes around the town, including filming a stretch limousine on the Balcon de Europa.

More recently a French menswear catalogue was in Nerja, and used Calahonda beach as a backdrop for a fashion shoot. The French telecoms firm, Orange, has been filming a commercial on Burriana beach.

The filming was done with the permission and support of Nerja council which values the free publicity these type of productions bring to Nerja. Forty people took part in this production and scenes were also filmed at Malaga Airport.

The filming took place on a relatively quiet mid-week day and showed young people playing beach volleyball amongst props in the distinctive orange colour of the mobile phone operator.
