Sergio Garcia returns to play in Spanish Open in Valencia

TODAY sees the start of the Spanish Open Golf with star attraction being the return of Sergio Garcia to the tournament after a 10 year absence.

And making a comeback to golf after injury will be Malaga veteran Miguel Angel Jiminez.

They will be amongst the starters at the Parador El Saler Golf Course in Valencia in what is always a hotly contested competition.

Garcia, ranked 13th in the world and first in Spain, will be aiming for his second Spanish Open title after his top 10 Masters performance.

He previously won in 2002. He attempted to defend his title in 2003, but that was his last appearance in the tournament up until now.

Sure to get a good following will be Spanish favourite, Jose Maria Olazabal. But most of the European big guns are giving the tournament a miss.

But there are still plenty of tour tournament winners taking on the course, including defending champion Francesco Molinari, David Howell and Simon Dyson.
