CASH PROMISE: Andalucian Government encouraging the arrival of the AVE high speed rail link.
THE Andalucian Government is to spend €260 million on facilitating the arrival of the AVE high speed rail link. This statement was in response to questions from opposition spokesmen Ignacio Garcia (IU) and Enrique Benitez (PSOE) who queried whether central government was marginalising the region by not committing funding for the proposed link.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Development said that he had asked the central government to apply to the Trans-European Network for development of railway infrastructure, based in Brussels, for financial assistance.
He stated: “A lack of government support for the railway infrastructure in Almeria will cause serious damage to the economy and employment.”
