Exciting weekend for Spanish football

Real Madrid won 3-0 at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring his 49th and 50th goals in all competitions this season.

Ronaldo scored with a free kick after just two minutes, then towered a header from close range to double the lead in the 69th minute, before completing the masterclass after passing for Gonzalo Higuain to net a third seven minutes later.

In other matches over the weekend, Barcelona are one step closer to the Spanish league title by winning 3-0 at Real Zaragoza on Sunday, with forward Cristian Tello playing in place of Lionel Messi. Thiago Alcantara put Barcelona ahead 20 minutes into the match and set up Tello to double the advantage in the 39th minute. Tello then added another in the 53rd minute

Atletico Madrid player, Radamel Falcao, scored twice as they continued their bid for a top-two finish in the Primera Division with a comprehensive 5-0 home win over Granada.

Real Sociedad continued their run of outstanding form with a convincing 2-0 win away to Rayo Vallecano.

Two goals by Imanol Agirretxe in the opening 14 minutes set the Basque side on their way to victory.

It was their fourth win in their last seven and they are four points clear of Malaga and Valencia.
