TRAPPED: Firemen cut the man free

AN 84-year-old man has been seriously hurt in car crash on the old road between Sineu and Palma near Sencelles.

A black Volkswagen Golf was travelling towards Sineu when a White Citroen Berlingo van pulled out of a junction.

The driver of the Volkswagen could do nothing to avoid the side on collision, say police. The impact was so strong that the Volkswagen overturned into a roadside ditch.

Firemen from Inca station had to cut free the 84-year-old driver of the Citroen.

Police and ambulances were quickly on the scene and attended the injured.

Two men were transferred to Son Latzer hospital in Palma for further treatment,

The 84-year-old was treated for chest injuries and multiple cuts. His condition was described as serious but not critical.

The man has been kept in hospital for observation.
