Vueling is best value Spanish airline

BARCELONA-BASED Vueling has been named Value Airline of the Year.

The accolade from Air Transport World (ATW) was confirmed at the magazine’s 39th awards ceremony in Washington last week.

Vueling and all nominees for the Value Airline of the Year award were required to have low maintenance costs and low fares while delivering value to customers, employees, shareholders and investors.

Vueling’s rigorous cost control, strong safety and operational performances, motivated employees and customer loyalty were deciding factors in the ATW jury’s decision.

“Our people and staff are the only secret ingredient of our success,” said Vueling’s CEO Alex Cruz in Washington.

“Everyone in the company understands the importance of being competitive.  Vueling will continue innovating in the coming years, without affecting our cost structure,” he pledged.  “And we have already shown that this can be done.”

Vueling was founded in July 2004 with just two aircraft, four routes and the goal of offering excellent service at a competitive price.

It now has 70 aircraft, operating 186 routes to more than 100 cities in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
