BREATH TEST: Could identify why someone is overweight
A BREATH test that identifies micro-organisms in the gut may be able to help explain why a person is overweight and how susceptible they are to obesity.
Scientists looked at concentrations of hydrogen and methane gasses in the bodies of 800 people and found that people with a higher concentration of both gases are more likely to be bigger.
By carrying out a breath test, they will be able to measure the level of these gases which could prove to be an important factor in understanding one of the many causes of obesity.
