SURPRISE GUESTS: A luxury car smashes through a brick wall into a garden

MYSTERY surrounds the crash of a €150,000 luxury car into the garden of a holiday villa.

Police called to the scene found a newly registered high powered Mercedes with German number plates, but there was no sign of the driver, nor any documentation referring to the owner.

A family which is spending a few days on holiday in a villa in Santa Ponça had found the car when they got up for breakfast.

Both the family and neighbours had slept through the crash.

Calvia police went to the scene once the family informed them they had a car in their garden. The incident happened in Calle Batle Bujosa which is a dead end.

Police speculate that the car was travelling at high speed when the driver may have noticed the street was a dead end.

The driver possibly then panicked and tried to turn the car round, which is when it may have hit the kerb before flying into the bushes and through the brick wall.

A large crane had to be called to lift the car out of the garden. The car has been taken to a local depot until police find the owner.
