Fined for parking in phantom space in Madrid

A RESIDENT of Madrid was fined for parking in a place which doesn’t exist.

He received a €200 fine from the city hall for parking inappropriately which he appealed. The appeal was rejected, but he decided to fight back, and sent the city hall a certificate from the Head of the Municipal Cartography and Urban Information Service which shows that the place in which he had allegedly parked does not exist on municipal plans.

This has been going on for 15 months, plus the driver says he has never been in the street where he allegedly committed the parking offence.

He now intends to take his case to court.
