The Spanish Government wants to give Spanish tests for new citizens.
The administration has proposed introducing a national Spanish-language test that will be given to all foreigners who want to take Spanish nationality.
According to the Europa Press, government officials are still discussing with Education Ministry officials what form the standardized test should take.
The draft bill would amend the present Civil Code regarding nationality requirements. At the moment, around 100,000 people apply each year for Spanish nationality.
During its campaign the Popular Party had already announced plans to ensure that new citizens are capable of reading, writing and speaking the language.
