Huge crowds due for top horse show in Costa Blanca

HUGE crowds are expected to head for Oliva Nova for a major horse show.

More than 800 horses and some of the best riders in the world will be thrilling the crowds at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva Nova.

The second leg of the competition started on Tuesday and runs until April 7. It has become one of the top events in the equestrian calendar with 810 horses competing, plus a further 200 on the waiting list.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco has 38 horses competing in his country’s team.

Champion rider Sergio Alvarez Moya is among those competing. It is a major contest with €375,000 prize money at stake in different categories.

Organisers are expecting bumper crowds for the event taking place during the Easter holidays.
