Red Cross says thanks

THE Regional Assembly of the Red Cross (Cruz Roja) has thanked local businesses and associations.

The event was celebrated in the headquarters of the Cruz Roja in Mercovelez, Velez-Malaga, and as well as the awarding of prizes it was also a chance for all volunteers to have their annual reunion.

Plaques were given for the work done by various businesses and entities that help the Cruz Roja.

On this occasion the Institute of Secondary Education Reyes Catolicos was given recognition for allowing the Cruz Roja to use the college for training. The director of the centre, Daniel Martinez received the award from the president of the Cruz Roja, Elias Khoury.

The second plaque of recognition was given to the owners of Torre del Mar Camping site, Miguel Carmona and Miguel Angel Marin, who also allowed the use of their premises.

The award was given by vice president, Eduardo Recio.

Lastly, the Cruz Roja thanked the owner of Canal 24 Horas, Miguel Angel Roman, for allowing them to use a space on the television channel to make ambulance and emergency calls without any cost.

The award ceremony was also attended by the councilor for Education of Velez-Malaga, Aurora Diaz.
