Pilgrims can start from Alfaz del Pi on their way to Santiago de Compostela
PILGRIMS will be welcomed with open arms at Alfaz del Pi which has announced that it is the starting point to Santiago de Compostela.
A presentation to announce that Alfaz is included in the South-East Alicante route was made at San Jose church in Plaza Mayor.
It is said that all roads lead to Santiago de Compostela but Alfaz is now officially on the route. The aim is to attract more travellers to Alfaz where they can enjoy the beaches, natural parks and historic town centre.
Thousands of pilgrims make the long journey to the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral every year where, tradition has it, the remains of St James are buried.
