Iberia planning further disruption in March in Spain

Iberia will be on strike again for 5 days from March the 4 to 8.

Anyone who has booked a flight with Iberia during the strike days should have received information from them, but if not it is advisable to call on 902 400500 (Spain) or 0870 609 0500 (UK). Also for more information visit their website www.iberia.com.

The airline has announced the cancellation of 431 flights as a result of the industrial action.

Air Nostrum has announced the cancellation of more than 400 flights, as they use Iberia ground staff.

Vueling and Iberia Express are also expected to announce disruption to their schedules for the same reason.

The Iberia flights affected are mainly national flights, with only 47 per cent expected to operate. Long haul flights will operate 85 per cent and short haul 62 per cent.

British Airways merged with Iberia two years ago and lost over €250 million in the first nine months of 2012 as it struggled to compete with low-cost rivals such as Ryanair.

Unions are planning another five day strike in March 18 to 22 which is estimated to cost Iberia around  €50 to €100 million.
