Castellon woman set herself on fire in desperation

  A 47 year old woman set herself on fire in front of a branch of the CaixaAlmassora, Castellon. She was heard to scream ‘you’ve taken everything from me, I’ve lost everything because of you!’, then she doused herself with petrol before setting herself alight.

It is thought that she may have fallen behind with her mortgage payments and that the bank was about to foreclose.

The woman is believed to be a lottery seller for the ONCE association for the blind, has three dependent children and is seperated from her husband.

The emergency services took her to hospital in Valencia suffering from 48 per cent burns to her head, legs and face. She remains in a critical condition.
