VItorino Antunes - MALAGA CF

Málaga CF’s latest signing, Portuguese-born left-winger, Vitorino Antunes, was officially presented at La Rosaleda this afternoon.  Formerly with Paços Ferreira, Panionios and Rome, Antunes joined training for the first time with his Blue and Whites’ teammates this morning, eager to show what he can do in the Spanish League, which he considers the best in the world.  He’s described as a defensive winger who also likes to join the attack.

Vitorino Antunes – MALAGA CF New Player

“Málaga is a major Club, currently in fourth place in the League, which isn’t easy to achieve.  Playing in a big Club like this is always a good thing.  It’s a dream come true for me, and I’m sure that everything is just going to keep getting better.”

“The team is in the Champions League and in fourth place in ‘La Liga’, but what got my attention was the chance to play in what I consider to be the best football league in the world.  It’s completely different to the Portuguese League, better quality and much more difficult.  It’s always great for a player to take part in these tough competitions and come up against the big rivals, which is what helps you to progress and improve.”

“I arrived at the very last minute, and didn’t know anything until the last day, although maybe the Clubs were in contact.  Monreal is without doubt a fantastic player, who’s now with Arsenal.  However I’m not going to focus my game play on Monreal, but on my own qualities, just like he had his.  I’ve got to make sure I do the best I can for Málaga and show what I’m capable of.”

“I like to attack and defend.  My experience in Italy really helped me to improve my attacking form.  I feel more ‘rounded’ as a player now.  I’m a defensive winger, but like to join the attack too.”
