WORKING LUNCH: British workers claim they are too busy to take a lunch break
BRITISH workers should consider taking a leaf out of the Spaniards and their two-hour lunch time siesta, as a new report reveals that workers in the UK take just 29 minutes for lunch.
The survey of 2,000 full-time employees by OnePoll said Britons take less than a half hour break before getting back to work as they are just too busy. A year ago the national lunch break average was 33 minutes. Many do not even take a proper break and eat at their desk.
The lost time equates to an extra 128 hours of work a year.
Most of those questioned said they had too much work to do, whilst others said they wanted to impress their boss and secure their job during tough economic times.
