A GERMAN neighbour visiting for a short break had his small home – on an urbanisation – broken into with more than €2,000 cash stolen. He had brought the money to pay for his annual community fees. What a sad start to his return visit, with the break-in resulting in someone forcing bars on a rear window, and then squeezing through the small gap. Crime is a huge problem in Spain. And I do not know the answer, for police are seen around, but from my experience a criminal element in society – both expatriate and national – take advantage of every opportunity.
