Malaga Metro Service users are advised to pay for their journeys digitally - either online or by downloading the app (Metro Malaga) to avoid using the machines, which can potentially be contagious.
MALAGA Mayor Francisco de la Torre stressed that the Metro should run underground throughout the city centre.
He refused the Andalucian Government’s proposal of building this stretch of the system overground. The government had stated that it would guarantee the project’s technical and economical viability.
De la Torre, however, rejected their financial arguments and announced that he will try to negotiate with Andalucian government President Jose Antonio Griñan.
“If the Andalucian Council of Public Works has said that they have a budget of €200 million to build the Metro course overground from the Guadalmedina station to El Palo area, obviously they could use it for building the underground stretch to La Malagueta beach for a lot less money,” the Mayor said.
