New home for CLARO

NEW ERA: President Bob Houliston officially opens the party's new office

CLARO has inaugurated its new Help and Information Office at the Asturias Restaurant in Punta Prima, Orihuela Costa.

President of the local political party, Bob Houliston, said: “It is a small, modest office but for CLARO it is a considerable achievement to have a permanent base and we consider the Asturias our home.”

“It is CLARO’s firm conviction, reinforced by experience over the last six to seven years, that Orihuela Costa and its residents need their own, local, non-ideological political party to ensure that in future they get a better deal from the Town Hall, better services and better facilities.”

Around 100 people attended the opening of the office. Councillors from the Popular Party (PP) Monica Lorente, Pepa Ferrando, David Costa and Jose Aniorte also attended.

Councillor Bob Houliston welcomed them saying their participation symbolised ‘the joint determination of the PP and CLARO to bring about a change of government in Orihuela, replacing the minority three-party government by a PP-CLARO majority which would provide stable and coherent government to Orihuela and Orihuela Costa.’

The new office, manned by volunteers, will open from 11am to 1pm Monday to Friday and will offer help and advice to residents on all administrative matters. It will enable CLARO to strengthen its links with residents of the coast, directly and individually or through the presidents of their urbanisations.  It is also the intention of CLARO to strengthen its links with business owners of Orihuela Costa.

Beginning tomorrow (Friday) the traditional open-to-all Friday meetings will continue on the ground floor of the Asturias Restaurant, but will now be held in the evening.

The English-speaking group will meet from 5-6.30pm followed by the Spanish meeting. Matters of current interest are discussed and CLARO councillor, Bob Houliston, provides news and analysis of political developments.
