BIKE DEATH

A TWENTY-YEAR-OLD woman died following a motorbike accident in the centre of Alicante. The male rider of the bike and a pedestrian were injured.  Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

SELF CONGRATS

CREVILLENTE’S Culture Department has highlighted the success of the wide range of events and concerts the town hosted last year to benefit local residents.

 

FOOD FORUM

A NEW Gastronomic Association has been created in Crevillente to promote local food and increase trade in the town’s restaurants.

 

HEALTH TOURISM

SO-CALLED ‘health tourism’ has fallen following the introduction of more stringent procedures to prevent abuse of the public health system by foreigners not entitled to care.

 

NO PARKING

THE owner of land near the Mercadona car park in Playa Flamenca has been ordered to remove camper vans from the site as it does not comply with regulations.

 

RUSSIAN VALUE

THE Costa Blanca Russian meeting point is being held today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) at the International Auditorium in Torrevieja showing the importance of the Russian customer.

 

TAPAS THURSDAY

EVERY Thursday a tapa and beer will cost €2 in a new promotion in bars and restaurants across Torrevieja running until Thursday, February 21.

 

CASH PRIZES

THE commercial association of San Fulgencio awarded a total of €3,000 in cash prizes to be spent at local shops as part of an initiative by the Department of Commerce to promote local trade.

 

YOUNG AT HEART

THE Young at Heart group has been formed in Benijofar and meets every Friday at 3pm at Bar Catorce for a social gathering.

 

CUT OFF

ACCESS to Orihuela next to the OlezaCollege, by the CV95 underpass is closed as construction work is underway. Access from the south to the city is now from the Arneva road.

 

SNIFFER DOG

FIRE EVACUATION

AN apartment block in Elche had to be evacuated as a fire broke out. There was no one in the apartment at the time of the blaze with neighbours evacuated as a precaution.
