THE fraud case against British property businessman Darragh MacAnthony has been shelved.
Judge Beatriz Fernandez from Marbella courts has closed the file on the basis of the alleged frauds being committed “overseas”, as well as the suspects being “foreigners.” She decided that the case should be closed “due to the lack of jurisdiction in Spanish courts.”
The prosecution, represented by Lawbird Legal Service, claimed that MacAnthony’s firm MRI had failed to deliver around €500,000 in furniture packs paid for by 40 clients.
The decision to close the case can be appealed against.
