ALL the staff in the five-star Melia La Quinta hotel in Marbella will be fired.
According to Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) trade union representative in Malaga Lola Villalba, the layoff plan presented by hotel owners Grupo Pascual is in two parts. The first stage will see the 33 permanent workers dismissed. The remaining 43 temporary workers will be fired later.
The management plans to open the hotel for just four Summer months a year, said Villalba. A deadline for negotiations between the owners and the union has been set for next Friday, January 18.
