THE Spanish flag has been removed from several regional police (Ertzaintza) stations in the Basque Country.
Although the Security Department of the new Basque government has not ordered any flags to be removed from the Ertzaintza offices, they have been taken down in Eibar, Zumarraga and Beasain in Guipozcoa and Erandio in Vizcaya. This allegedly happened following a communiqué from the Human Resources department according to the unions representing the Ertzaintza.
When the PSE-EE came to power in the Basque Country, it was decided that the Spanish flag would be placed in the entrance hall to the police stations with the European, Basque and Ertzaintza flags.
