LEGACY LIVES ON: Solvi Jansen with one of the donkeys at EHCRC who will have a happy home thanks to her donations
CHARITY fund-raiser and helper Solvi Jansen passed away in the early hours of Christmas Day.
Solvi and her twin sister Kate, were well known because of their generous fundraising efforts throughout the Costa Blanca and in particular for the Easy Care Rescue Centre (ECHRC) in Rojales.
Co-founder Sue Weeding said the centre would not have survived without their support in the early days. “They truly have been incredible supporters and benefactors of the Rescue Centre from almost the beginning. Many of the early rescues were made possible because of their fundraising and their own personal donations.”
One of the great highlights for the EHCRC and also for Solvi and Kate, was not only winning the Pride of Spain Special Achievement Award in 2010, but the surprise donation that the twins made on the same night of €10,000.
“Because of Solvi Jansens’ incredible kindness and compassion there are many happy horses who will be living the rest of their lives here at the Rescue Centre” added Sue, “Every day when we look at our very own special Solvi the horse, who was rescued in April last year and named in honour of Solvi Jansen, we will always remember with love the extraordinary person she really was and all that she has done for us and all the animals here.”
Solvi had been fighting cancer for a long while and lost her battle in the early hours of Christmas day. Even towards the end she still continued to make the labels for the donation tins and would sit for hours sticking them on the tins which are distributed throughout the Costa Blanca.
