Murderer jailed again

A MAN serving time for the murder of his ex-girlfriend’s father has been given another five years for abusing her.

Almeria City Criminal Court has sentenced the 22-year-old man to five years for battery and threats to his former girlfriend.  The man, known as FMJC, is already serving 10 years in jail for murdering her father in July 2010, a few days after she ended their relationship.

For the latest sentence it was proven that FMJC subjected his then girlfriend to blows, shoves, shakes, pinches, and insults throughout their four year relationship and that he threatened to kill her on at least two occasions after the relationship ended.  That caused her to feel guilty, insecure, undervalued, dependent and with a low self-esteem, as well as developing anxiety and mood disorders, the court heard. He kept threatening her even when he was remanded at El Acebuche provincial prison for her father’s murder.  From his cell he sent her a threatening letter which included a drawn cross and a coffin.

Apart from the five years in prison he has also been ordered to pay his victim €6,000 compensation and is not allowed to go within 500 metres of her.
