THOUSANDS took to the streets in Palma to demand independence for all ‘Catalonian Countries’
The annual march, which was organised by the Plataforma 31D movement, started at the Paseo del Borne in Palma city and ended at plaza Bisbe Berenguer Palau.
This year’s demonstration attracted more people than ever, claimed Joan Mateu Ferrando, spokesman for the group.
As the word independence was chanted by the crowd, he said that there are more and more reasons to claim self-determination and that such status must be applied to every ‘Catalonian Country’ simultaneously.
Oriol Junqueras, President of ERC Catalunya, a separatist political party, stated that Balearic citizens have “every right and necessity to decide their own future” as well as “not to depend” on the central administration.
PSM-IV-ExM parliament spokesman Biel Barcelo and Esquerra Republicana (ERC) Mallorca President Joan Llado also attended.
